How much does a 4x8 sheet of carbon steel weigh?
A 4x8 sheet of carbon steel can weigh anywhere between 5,500 to over 8,000 pounds. This weight varies depending on the thickness and grade of the steel. Sheets that are thinner and have a lower gauge number will weigh less than thicker sheets with a higher gauge number.
The weight also varies depending on the carbon content of the steel. High-carbon steel sheets can weigh over 8,000 pounds while low-carbon steel sheets are significantly lighter at around 5,500 pounds.
